Which class should you play?
Complexity Tier List: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqyJHxXXoyQ
For me...
- Thaumaturge (difficult to play but high results)
- Swashbuckler (easy to play but incredibly high results)... Intimidate + Finisher, then Tumble Through + Finisher...
- Ranger (Mark Prey, go to town).. similar to Swashbucker, so pick and choose (best single target damage... no skill check attached to their feature unlike Swashbuckler)
- Rogue is about as powerful as Swashbucklers but a little more difficult than Swashbuckler (make it flat-footed, then sneak attack... good at everything except combat)
- Investigator is harder to play with slightly less results (more complicated than a rogue but more consistent)
- Fighter super easy to play but results are pretty absurd
- Champion is a slightly worse (but more flavorful) fighter
- Magus, high results and not necessarily difficult (use cantrips in your spellstrike... more complicated than rogue or monk but slightly more risky than necessary -- missing the spellstrike puts you a full round behind. most volatile class in 5e)
- Bard - pretty easy to play, reasonably high results
- Cleric (CHA based heal spells... Life Oracle might be a better healer but Cleric is still solid)
Witch, not hard to play but no real payoff Summoner is hard to play but incredibly low results Sorcerer is easy to play, payoff is good but not as high as the Swashbuckler (easiest spellcaster to play, not punishing)... maybe gets the most powerful focus spells Druid is centered, medium difficult, medium (to slightly better) results Psychic a little worse than Thaumaturge but that's about it... Oracle is the most difficult to play and might have the lowest results (but Life Oracles might be the best healers in the system) Monk not super hard to play but reasonably effective Inventor, middled results but decent results (Thaumaturge is better) Gunslinger roughly the same as a monk but slightly harder to play Wizard maybe better than the druid but about as difficult Barbarian is worse than fighter and Swashbuckler Alchemist is incredibly hard to play but you don't get anything worth it compared to other classes (not as bad as the summoner or oracle) but no huge payoff for the versatility
