Revifify... Heroes' Feast

https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/d419va/how_are_you_supposed_to_manage_spell_costs_in_5e/

Basically, the whole argument comes down to the following steps:

  1. If a spell has verbal (V) components, you must be able to speak audibly/loudly.
  2. If a spell has somatic (S) components, you need a free hand to cast a spell
  3. If you're casting a spell that has material (M) components, you need to provide those material components or hold a focus (these components can be in your free hand).

From Justin:

Because the argument is you’re wearing the focus. And it says you can use the focus if you’re wearing it… and you’re holding say 2 daggers, can you cast the VM spell?… I’d say yes, but not VMS. Because you’re not holding the focus, so you can’t do the S part with the hand holding the material because there is no hand holding the material. And your hands are full.

For the sake of the argument, I'd let you throw a light weapon in the air so you could briefly touch a different item if you really wanted to.

It's just like how any sane DM will allow someone who's holding a two-handed weapon (or more importantly, a versatile weapon) to let go of the weapon with one hand to perform somatic components of a spell.
