Clockwork Soul Sorcerer
Hill Dwarf (for heavy armor bonus).. change the ability scores, see if you can trade other proficiencies for tools.. (2+ CHA, 1+ CON)
So, besides Wood Elves, there's the Centaurs, Leonins, Dhampirs and Satyrs. Plus the atypical movement boosts for Tabaxis and Orcs, and the Feral Tiefling only gives up 1AC (swapping to med armor) for flight.
Stats: 8/10/15/10/13/15
What about... 8/13/14/8/13/15 (Custom Lineage, feat: Resilient (DEX)).. toss the extra point in STR or INT... Wear Medium Armor insead...
You want to play with a rogue... Voice of Authority is perfect for them to use their reaction for an extra Sneak Attack.

Spells: Sleep (not good after a few levels), Shield
- Cleric (Order Domain, if MTG isn't available... take something else that gives Heavy Armor proficiency)

You also get Aid and Lesser Restoration -- Aid is an efficient healing spell, it can pick up downed characters by increasing their hit points by 5 and targets 3 characters...
- Feat: Fey Touched (18 CHA), Misty Step + Tasha's Hideous Laughter (or Gift of Alacrity)
Cantrip: Message (it's fine)... Spells: Replace Sleep with Enlarge/Reduce, Mirror Image, (Clockwork) Replace Lesser Restoration with Levitate
- Fireball, (Clockwork) Dispel Magic, Replace Protection from Energy with Counterspell
(Hypnotic Pattern and Fear might be better later)

Seeing Tough taken late in builds is a red flag for me. To talk about a build having a ton of hit points but see that 40 of them happened at level 20 because you took Tough seems... bad.
